The following two videos discuss the benefits of barefoot running and how modern running shoes are the cause of overuse injuries that almost anyone who has done a decent amount of running has experienced.  If you’re scared to go completely barefoot there are a growing number of companies offering shoes that protect the feet but maintain the natural feel of feet on pavement.  If you’re interested in trying out barefoot running without shelling out for a pair of Vibram five fingers just yet, do a 400m run instead of the daily 400m row barefoot and inside during your daily warmup at CFSP.  This will allow you to ease into this new posture, which is dramatically different than most runners’ gaits.
