As you've all heard before, one of the characteristics of functional movements is their organic nature. By this, we are referring to the human's need, and natural propensity for them. In this picture, we see Jack Jones executing a thoughtless, yet flawless squat. Despite many attempts, Mike and Andrea have yet to communicate to their children the many mechanical expectations of the air squat, and yet, here we see young Jack, weight on heels, hips below knees, torso upright - all on instinct. This is what's so great about functional movement, you're not learning anything new, challenging though they may be to learn. In fact, you're re-learning movement patterns that our race has relied upon for a hundred millennia.
